Marcos orders crackdown on child sexual abuse offenders

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has issued an order to pursue criminals involved in the online sexual exploitation of children.


During a recent sectoral meeting at Malacañang, the President directed relevant agencies to employ all means necessary to apprehend those responsible for exploiting children.


He also direxted agencies to consolidate their efforts and develop a comprehensive strategy within one month.


The Center for Anti-Online Child Sexual Abuse under the Department of Justice (DOJ) earlier reported that child abuse and exploitation remain prevalent in the Philippines, with nearly half a million children falling victim to such crimes.


The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reportedly received a staggering 2.7 million reports related to incidents of child abuse in 2023. (GP)
