PINILI ni President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. si Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno para pamunuan ang kanyang economic team bilang susunod na Finance secretary.
Sa kanyang appointment sa Department of Finance (DOF), kailangan bitiwan ni Diokno ang kanyang posisyon sa BSP, isang fixed term position, na nakatakda sanang magtapos sa Hulyo 2023. Si Monetary Board member Felipe Medalla ang magsisilbi sa natitirang termino ni Diokno sa BSP.
“It is an honor to serve the Filipino people in my current and any future capacity. I am grateful and humbled by the trust given to me by the President-elect to help his administration manage the country’s fiscal affairs,” ayon kay Diokno.
“As Finance Secretary, I will strive to continue prudently and carefully balancing the need to support economic growth, on one hand, and to maintain fiscal discipline, on the other,” dagdag pa niya.
