Palace mulls legal action vs deepfake video creators

MALACANANG said it was considering taking legal action against those behind the deepfake video showing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directing the military to launch hostile actions against China.

Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Assistant Secretary Patricia Kayle Martin said that they have now sought the help of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and National Security Council (NSC) to track down the creators of the videos where artificial intelligence (AI) was used to mimic the voice of the President.

They are also coordinating with Facebook, Google, and other social media platforms to identify the hackers.

Meanwhile, PCO Assistant Secretary Wheng Hidalgo-Otida suggested that foreign individuals may be responsible for the content. (GP)
