SINABI ni Speaker Martin Romualdez na ilalaan ang 25 porsiyento na kita mula sa Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) para sa mga ayuda.
“We have increased the contributions of the profits of the Maharlika Investment Fund to social welfare fund that the government can utilize to provide assistance to those who need it the most,” sabi ni Romualdez bilang pangangatwiran sa isinusulong niyang MIF.
Idinagdag ni Romualdez na mismong si ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro ang nagsulong na itaas ang inilalaan sa mga ayuda sa 25 porsiyento mula sa 20 porsiyento.
Ani Romualdez, ito na ang sagot sa panukala ni Castro na makapaglaan ang gobyerno ng dagdag na pondo para ayuda sa mga mahihirap.
Kabilang si Castro sa anim na mga kongresista na bumoto laban sa House Bill (HB) No. 6608 kaugnay ng isinusulong na Maharlika Investment Fund.
“This amendment was proposed by the Makabayan bloc, which we accepted,” dagdag ni Romualdez.
Inaprubahan sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ng Kamara ang panukalang Maharlika Investment Fund Huwebe ng gabi.
Bukod kay Castro, kabilang sa mga bumoto laban sa panukala ay sina Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman, Gabriela party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas, Kabataan party-list Rep. Raoul Manuel, Basilan Rep. Mujiv Hataman at Camarines Sur Rep. Gabriel Bordado.
