ANIM na araw na lang at deadline na ng pagpaparehistro ng subscriber identity modules (SIM) ngunit wala pa sa kalahati ng 168 milyong aktibong SIM ang nairerehistro.
Ayon sa Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) na 95 milyon pang SIM ang hindi rehistrado.
Sa kabila nito, sinabi ng DICT na wala itong balak na i-extend ang registration kahit umapela na ang mga telecommunication companies na palawigin pa ang deadline ng 120 araw.
“However, at this point, there is no extension of SIM registration. With the April 26 registration deadline drawing near, we encourage everyone to register to promote the responsible use of SIMs and provide law enforcement agencies the necessary tools to crack down on perpetrators who use SIMs for their crimes, consistent with the declared policy of the law,” ayon sa kalatas ng DICT.
Una nang umapela ang Smart Communications, Globe Telecom, at DITO Telecommunity na i-extend ang registration dahil nasa 73.03 milyon SIM cards lang ang naparehistro base sa tala noong Abril 17.
