Bicol solon: Maharlika Fund mabuti sa bansa; pero timing hindi maganda

NANINIWALA si Camarines Sur (3rd District) Rep. Gabriel Bordado Jr., na may maitutulong ang isinusulong na Maharlika Investment Fund sa bansa.

Gayunman, hindi ito ang tamang panahon para sa implementasyon ng ganitong hakbang na kakailanganin ang mga sobrang pondo ng pamahalaan.

Sa kanyang manipestasyon sa sesyon nitong Martes, sinabi ni Bordado na bad timing ang pagsusulong ng MIF lalo pa’t lubog sa utang ang bansa.

“The intention of sovereign wealth funds is very laudable, Mr. Speaker. Its primary functions are first and foremost, to stabilize the country’s economy through diversification and second, to generate wealth for future generations. As the president’s economic team puts it, the Fund can bring both direct and inter-generational benefits,” ayon sa kongresista.

“Indeed, Mr. Speaker, putting up a sovereign wealth fund through Maharlika Investment Fund, can be beneficial to the country IF done properly and on the right time. We have seen the success of sovereign wealth funds such as the Norwegian Fund, which is now worth $1.2 trillion,” giit nito.

Ikinatuwa rin ni Bordado ang pag-aalis sa Government Social Insurance System at Social Security System bilang source ng pondo ng isinusulong na House Bill 6398 o ang Maharlika Investment Fund Bill.
