ISANG 18-anyos Filipino tourist mula sa Cebu ang pinakahuling biktima ng hate crime sa Amerika matapos ang pag-atake sa biktima sa Manhattan nitong nakaraang Miyerkules, ayon sa Philippine Consulate General sa New York.
Dahil dito, pinayuhan ni Consul General Elmer Cato ang mga Pilipino na laging mapagmatiyag para makaiwas sa anumang uri ng pag-atake.
“In view of this incident, the Consulate reminds members of the Filipino Community as well as kababayan visiting New York to exercise the necessary precautions while on the streets or in the subways,” sabi ng Konsulado.
Base sa impormasyon ng Konsulado, naglalakad ang biktima kasama ang tatlo pang mga Pinoy malapit sa 6th Avenue at 46th Street nang mangyari ang pag-atake.
“The Filipino sustained facial injuries from the beating he received from the suspect who was eventually subdued and turned over to authorities,” dagdag ng Konsulado.
Ito na ang pang-41 na insidente ng hate crime.
“The Consulate is in touch with the New York City Police Department to get more information on the incident. It is unknown at this point if the incident was anti-Asian-hate-related,” ayon pa sa Konsuldo.
