PCG: Naujan, Oriental Mindoro malinis na mula sa langis ng MT Princess Empress

INANUNSYO ng Philippine Coast Guard na tapos na ang paglilinis sa dagat na sakop ng bayan ng Naujan, Oriental Mindoro ilang buwan matapos lumubog ang MT Princess Empress na nagdulot ng malawakang oil spill noong Pebrero.

Matapos ang apat na buwan simula nang lumubog ang oil tanker na may laman ng 800,000 litro ng langis, sinabi ng PCG na natapos na ng Malayan Towage and Salvage Corp. ang isinagawang oil removal/recovery operations.

“During the inspection and briefing, the Malayan Towage and Salvage Corp. (MSTC) assured the PCG of completing the oil removal/recovery operations by showing all eight cargo oil tanks and the ship’s operational tank with no trace of oil,” ayon sa kalatas ng PCG nitong Sabado.

Sa tala, mahigit sa 200,000 residente ang apektado sa nasabing oil spill na nagdulot din ng mahigit sa P5 bilyong pinsala sa agrikultura, fisheries and livestock sa Calabarzon, Mimaropa at Western Visayas.

“Following the completion of DSV Fire Opal’s operations, MTSC said two of their tugboats would continue to monitor and conduct containment operations for oil that may leak from the fuel pipes of MT Princess Empress.”
