Ex-CA Justice Sadang named new PCGG chief

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has named retired Court of Appeals (CA) Justice Melchor Sadang as the new chair of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG).

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced in a Facebook post Sadang’s new designation, along with the latest batch of appointments made by Marcos in at least 13 government agencies.

Sadang served as a CA magistrate from 2011 to 2017 and a presiding judge of the Cavite City Regional Trial Court from 2000 to 2011.

Aside from Sadang, Marcos also appointed Charlito Martin Mendoza and Domini Velasquez as Undersecretaries of the Department of Finance (DOF); Asis Perez as Undersecretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA); Jesus Nathanial Martin Gonzales as Undersecretary of the Department of Transportation; and Ethel Agnes Valenzuela as commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

The President also designated new officials to the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of National Defense (DND), Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Transportation (DOTr), Supreme Court (SC), and Office of the President (OP).
