Clear skies, humid weather to prevail across PH Friday

THE country will continue to experience fair and humid weather Friday, the weather bureau said.

“Almost every part of the country will experience clear skies. We don’t see cloud clusters that could cause rains,” said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said.

He added that no weather disturbance was monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Aurelio said humid weather would prevail from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Up to 38 °C temperature is expected in Tuguegarao; 35 °C in Metro Manila and Davao; and 34 °C in Kalayaan Islands, Puerto Princesa and Zamboanga.

Heat indices of 42 to 44 or danger level heat index are forecast in the following areas: Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Bacnotan, La Union; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Sangley Point, Cavite; Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Aborlan, Palawan; Pili, Camarines Sur; Roxas City, Capiz; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Dumangas, Iloilo; Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte.

Heat index is what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air. Under danger level, heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely. Continued exposure to the sun could also cause heat stroke.

Despite the high temperatures, Aurelio said rain showers are still likely, especially in the Visayas and Mindanao. PAGASA forecast localized thunderstorms to cause isolated rain showers.

Meanwhile, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas still prevail across the archipelago. (PNA)
