NAGLABAS ang Korte Suprema ng temporary restraining order (TRO) sa no-contact apprehension policy (NCAP) na ipinatutupad ng ilang lokal na pamahalaan.
Pinaboran ng SC ang petisyon na inihain ng Kilusan sa Pagbabago ng Industriya ng Transportation, Inc. (KAPIT).
Itinakda rin ng Kataastaasang Hukuman ang oral argument sa Enero 24, 2023.
Samantala, ikinatuwa ni Albay Rep. Joey Salceda ang naging aksyon ng SC.
“There were obvious flaws of legality from the very start. Policing is not something that can be conducted without informing the citizen of his rights or allowing him or her adequate methods of redress. That violates due process,” sabi ni Salceda.
“So, I am grateful to the Supreme Court for their action. This will prevent the policy from doing any harm until we can resolve its legality and constitutionality,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.
