Over 45K jobs available for Metro jobseekers – DOLE

THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said over 45,000 jobs are up for grabs for new graduates and other jobseeker at simultaneous job fairs to be held in various areas in Metro Manila on Labor Day.


Sarah Mirasol, DOLE-National Capital Region director, said that with the job fairs, the department sees a decline in the unemployment rate and the strengthening of the labor sector.


The DOLE will hold the simultaneous job fairs to mark the country’s 122nd Labor Day on Wednesday.


The job fairs will be mounted in partnership with the public employment service office of various local government units, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)and the Department of Migrant Workers.


A total of 713 local employers are set to participate in the job fairs that will be held at SM Grand Central Caloocan, SM Valenzuela, San Andres Sports Complex, SM MOA Music Hall, Pateros municipal hall quadrangle, Robinsons Metro East, Parañaque city social hall & sports complex, SM South Mall, Robinsons Las Piñas, Vista Mall Taguig, Quezon City hall covered walkway, SM Novaliches, SM Fairview, SM North EDSA and SM Centerpoint-Santa Mesa.


There will be a separate job fair on May 3 at Ayala Mall South Park in Muntinlupa. DOLE said 25 overseas employers will also offer jobs.


Aside from the job fair, some government agencies will also have a one-stop-shop service, including the Social Security System, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG Fund, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Manila Police Department.


Meanwhile, Mirasol reminded applicants to prepare pre-employment documents, such as their resume, when attending a job fair.
