NAGBABALA ang Department of Transportation (DOTr) sa mga driver na lumahok at lalahok pa sa isang linggong kilos protesta na haharap sila sa mga sanction kabilang na ang pagkaka-revoke ng kanilang prangkisa.
Kasabay nito, naglabas naman ng kautusan ang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board sa mga regional directors na mag-isyu ng special permit sa mga PUV na nais pumasada sa labas ng kanilang ruta para masilbihan ang mga commuter na maapektuhan ng tigil-pasada ngayong linggo.
Sinabi ni Transportation Undersecretary for Legal Affairs Reinier Yebra na mahaharap sa administrative penalty ang mga lalahok sa strike dahil paglabag ang protesta sa prangkisang ibinigay sa mga jeepney drivers at operators.
“If you are a franchise holder, you have the obligation to give service to the public. If you fail to do it and instead go on strike, it’s as if you violated the conditions of your franchise, [so] that [franchise] can be revoked,” paliwanag ng opisyal.
Bukod sa kasong administratibo, maaari rin silang sampahan ng kasong kriminal kung sakaling may masasaktan silang tao o masisirang property.
“We want to emphasize that a franchise is not a right, it’s a mere privilege that the state can take back anytime if you do not comply [with the terms]. In other words, there are many mechanisms to protect our commuters both on the criminal and administrative aspects. We’re supported by the law on this,” ayon pa kay Yebra.
