Marcos marks ‘enduring’ PH-SoKor ties

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has underscored the enduring and flourishing diplomatic relations between the Philippines and South Korea.

Speaking during an interview with the Maekyung Media Group at the Malacañan Palace, Marcos emphasized the significance of the longstanding partnership between the two nations, which has spanned 75 years.

“The relationship between our two countries has been ongoing for 75 years now, and this has been a very important partnership for the Philippines, and I think, also for the Republic of South Korea,” Marcos said, highlighting the mutual importance of the diplomatic ties.

Marcos expressed a commitment to further strengthening the bonds between the two countries.

He noted that both nations are aligned in nurturing and enhancing their relationship.

“What we are now trying to do is to promote the partnerships that we have begun in the past so that the exchange between our two countries will increase and will be mutually beneficial to both the Republic of Korea and the Republic of the Philippines,” he affirmed, underlining the shared objectives aimed at fostering closer collaboration.

Formal diplomatic relations between the Philippines and South Korea were established on March 3, 1949, marking the beginning of a fruitful partnership characterized by cooperation and shared interests. (GP)
