Katrina Velarde removes nose implant due to complications

SINGER Katrina Velarde has revealed that she recently underwent surgery to remove a silicone nose implant due to complications that surfaced four years after her rhinoplasty procedure.

In a Facebook video posted over the weekend, Velarde explained that the implant had to be removed immediately, prompting her to cancel several scheduled appearances, including her supposed guest performance at the 98 Degrees concert in Manila last week.

“After kong mag-post about sa hindi ako makaka-attend sa 98 Degrees (concert) and I had to cancel some commitments na dapat kakantahan ko, it’s because I needed to have my nose implant removed as soon as possible, and it takes a while para mag-recover,” she said.

According to Velarde, the complications only began to show recently, years after she had the silicone implant placed.

“So nagkaroon ako ng complications four years after malagay ‘yung silicone implant sa ilong ko,” she said, adding, “Alam n’yo naman din na very open ako sa mga ginagawa ko, sa pagiging robot ko or pagiging android ko.”

She also revealed that this was not the first time she had to undergo nose implant removal. Her first rhinoplasty used a Gore-Tex implant, which her body also rejected.

“At first, I had Gore-Tex. Ni-reject din siya ng katawan ko right ahead, and then I had it removed also. Tapos itong pangalawa, ito na ‘yung ngayon, at nagkaroon na naman ako ng complication,” she said.

In a previous interview with Boy Abunda, Velarde confirmed she had undergone several cosmetic procedures, including chin and lip fillers, non-surgical eyelid enhancement, and rhinoplasty.

“Actually, parang important din po kasi nowadays ‘yung physical appearance, and I think I’m more confident po na nagpagawa ako,” she said in that interview.
