ACTRESS Matet de Leon could not hold back tears during a TikTok live selling session on June 29, after reading insensitive comments from viewers.
Matet was in the middle of explaining the price of a corned beef set when she paused, visibly shaken. Moments later, she broke down in tears after reading a string of comments that appeared to upset her.
While Matet did not disclose exactly what was said, screenshots shared by a netizen with the handle @j.jreau suggested the remarks targeted her career and her late mother, screen legend Nora Aunor. One comment read: “Wala na kayo project?” Another harshly stated: “Suplada ‘to kaya iniwan ni Ate Guy.”
In a follow-up video posted the next day, June 30, Matet addressed the emotional moment and clarified that she was not ashamed of her current work.
“Gusto ko lang ipaalam sa inyong lahat, ‘no, ‘yung nangyari kahapon na medyo naiyak ako sa live. Hindi ako naiyak sa live dahil nahihiya ako mag-live. Okay?” she said. “Ako, proud na proud na proud ako maging live seller ng TikTok ng mga brands na pinaniniwalaan ko. Sobrang saya ko din mag-live, na kahit may pinagdadaanan, nagso-show up ako. Happy ako sa pagla-live, sobra.”
Matet admitted that a single hurtful comment triggered her reaction.
“Kaya ako na-bad trip kahapon because of that one person na walang puso at napakawalanghiya, okay?” she said. “Pero ‘yung pagla-live sell, I love it.”
She also expressed gratitude to those who continue to support her live selling efforts.
“Gusto kong mag-thank you sa mga taong maayos, pagka-live. Yung mga sumusuporta, lalo na yung mga suki ko—akala ninyo, hindi ko kayo nakakalimutan, ‘no?”
Moving forward, Matet said she has learned to limit reading comments during her streams.
“Masasabi ko lang doon sa mga talagang gusto lang mamikon sa taong nagtatrabaho lang nang maayos at ginagawa ‘yung gustung-gusto niya… babawasan ko na ‘yung pagbabasa ng comments,” she said. “And I will do my best para hindi masira ‘yung trabaho kong gustung-gusto kong ginagawa nang dahil sa inyo.”
