NAHAHARAP sa contempt si Health Secretary Francisco Duque III makaraang hindi ito sumipot nang ikalawang beses sa pagdinig ng Kamara kung saan inimbitahan siyang maging resource person.
Sa ginanap na pagdinig ng House committee on good government and public accountability hinggil sa mga polisiya ng Department of Health (DOH) at Food and Drug Administration (FDA), sinabi ni Anakalusugan Partylist Rep. Mike Defensor na hindi dumalo sa dalawang magkasunod na hearing si Duque.
Wala ring ibinigay na dahilan si Duque sa pagliban sa dalawang pagdinig, ayon naman kay Diwa Partylist Rep. Michael Aglipay, ang chairman ng komite.
Dahil dito, iminungkahi ni Defensor kay Aglipay na padalhan ng liham na may kaakibat na banta ng contempt si Duque kapag hindi pa ito sumipot sa susunod na pagdinig.
“Ito ay motu propio hearing natin If there is continued absence, I would request Mr. Chairman, through you, that we write an official letter that in the next meeting, if they do not attend, then we can declare him in contempt,” hirit ni Defensor.
“Secretary Duque is a friend of mine. Pero kapag may absence, kasi ang regulatory policy, FDA, pero ‘yung overall policy on public health is coming from the DOH. I don’t think the undersecretaries can reply to the concerns to the questions before this committee,” dagdag niya.
Inaprubahan ng komite ang mosyon ni Defensor.
