New Zealand commits to promote peace process in Mindanao

NEW ZEALAND Prime Minister Christopher Luxon reaffirmed his nation’s dedication to help in the process of attaining peace in Mindanao.


In a meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Luxon also endorsed the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund that provide scholarships to students from Muslim and tribal communities in Mindanao.


The Manaaki Scholarship, which is funded by New Zealand’s International Development Corporation, provides post-graduate studies that focus on critical areas such as climate change and the environment, disaster management, food security and agriculture, renewable energy, and governance.


Luxon also discussed New Zealand’s program for women, agriculture, renewable energy, capacity building and learning and training opportunities for the Filipinos, which are part of his government’s aim to boost bilateral relations with the Philippines. (GP)
