NAGPAHAYAG ng paghanga si Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines President at Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles kay Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz sa debosyon nito kay Virgin Mary.
Ayon kay Valles, maliban sa gintong medalya na nasungkit ni Diaz ay ipinagmalaki rin nito ang suot niyang Miraculous Medal o Medal of Our Lady of Graces.
“Her victory was captured through many lenses and in one of these photos was her holding the gold medal and wearing a Miraculous Medal of Our Lady on her chest,” ani Valles.
“We admire her devotion to the Blessed Mother as she carried in her victory her great faith in God,” dagdag ng Obispo.
“On behalf of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), I extend my utmost gratitude to Hidilyn for bringing honor to our country with her determined spirit and undying passion for what she does,” sabi ni Valles.
Ayon kay Diaz, ibinigay sa kanya ng mga kaibigan ang Miraculous Medal bago siya nagtungo ng Tokyo.
Medal of the Immaculate Conception ang unang pangalan nito, pero dahil pinagmilagruhan ang maraming may suot nito kaya tinawag itong Miraculous Medal.
