“We have breached the million mark and it has not really surprised me. From a distance, nakikita ko talaga. And everytime I see people violating the law, I would just say to whoever is seated next to me, sabihin ko, ‘Tingnan mo ito, tomorrow there will be a spike again.’ And true enough,” sabi ni Duterte sa kanyang Talk to the People address.

“It is now of national interest and maybe the survival of the Filipinos. I would like to be somebody governing but not really unnecessarily going to the extreme. But apparently not all, but there are a lot of you out there violating and violating and repeatedly violating the laws,” aniya.

“I will hold responsible, and I will direct the Secretary of the DILG to hold the mayors and barangay chairmen responsible for these kinds of events happening in their places. It is a violation of the law. And if you do not enforce the law, there is a dereliction of duty, which is punishable under the Revised Penal Code,” aniya.
