NANANAWAGAN ang OCTA Research sa pamahalaan na higpitan ang quarantine status sa Metro Manila kung saan muli na namang umaakyat ang bilang ng mga kaso ng Covid-19 na pinaniniwalaan na dahil sa Delta variant.
Sa kalatas, sinabi ng OCTA na kailangang bilisan ng mga otoridad ang mga pagsusuri at contact tracing.
“We cannot underestimate the Covid-19 uptick because of the possibility that it may be driven by Delta. At the very least the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases) must contemplate a stricter quarantine status or impose more restrictions in the NCR,” ayon sa grupo.
Naglabas ng pahayag ang OCTA bilang reaksyon sa ulat ng Department of Health na 47 na ang local cases ng Delta variant sa Pilipinas.
Idinagdag ng grupo na hindi sapat ang ipinaiiral na general community quarantine (GCQ) para mapigilan ang isa pang surge ng virus sa Metro Manila.
“The current GCQ status without restrictions will not be enough. The key to dealing with this impending surge in cases in the NCR requires timely and appropriate interventions that would include lockdowns augmented by expanded testing and tracing. Let us not wait for the numbers to explode before we act,” hirit pa ng OCTA.
