MULING nagpaalala ang Department of Health na hindi makagagamot o mapipigilan ng anti-parasitic drug na Ivermectin ang COVID-19.
“Based on evidence, this drug doesn’t give you any benefit at all in preventing, in shortening the duration of your hospitalization or preventing the progression of your disease when you have Covid-19,” ayon kay Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.
At dahil dito, hindi inirerekomenda ng DOH ang paggamit o pag-inom sa nasabing gamot.
Ginawa ng DOH ang pagpapaalala sa publiko matapos mag-isyu ng pahayag ang Food and Drug Administration ng Estados Unidos na nagbabawal sa paggamit ng Ivermectin matapos mapaulat na marami ang nalalason dahil sa pag-inom nito.
“Even in other countries… and now the US-FDA (United States — Food and Drug Administration) has recommended against the use of this drug,” dagdag pa ni Vergeire.
“This drug has side effects that could be harmful to your body. So again, we want to remind the public to only take registered and recommended drugs to avoid harmful or adverse effects coming from these drugs,” anya pa.
