BINIGYAN ng tatlong araw ng Department of Interior and Local Government ang Cebu provincial government para amyendahan ang order nito na gawing optional na lamang ang pagsusuot ng face mask sa outdoor setting.
Ginawa ni Interior Secretary Eduardo Año ang ultimatum isang linggo matapos iisyu ni Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia ang kanyang kautusan na maaaring hindi na magsuot ng face mask sa probinsiya kung nasa labas ng bahay o gusali.
“We will be giving the Cebu provincial government … to amend, rectify or adjust their ordinance and EO to be consistent with EO 151,” ayon kay Año.
Ang tinutukoy ni Año ay ang kautusan ni Pangulong Duterte na inisyu noong nakaraang Nobyembre para sa mandatory na pagsusuot ng face mask sa buong bansa kasabay ang pagpapatupad ng five-tier level system sa COVID-19 response.
“After the weekend we will do whatever is necessary. I am consulting with my legal team [on what to do],” dagdag pa ng DILG secretary.
“We do not want to set a precedent for other local governments. We are still in a pandemic and more transmissible variants are still arising. Hence, we must abide by the minimum public health standards, including wearing of face masks, in order to finally defeat this pandemic,” paliwanag pa nito.
