PINASISIBAK ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez kay Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista ang lahat ng tauhan ng Office of Transportation Security (OTS) dahil sa kahihiyang idinudulot ng mga ito para sa bansa bunsod ng mga nakawan sa airport.
“It’s very embarrassing, alarming, and it really makes you furious. How can we even entice foreign tourists to our shores if no less than our airport personnel keep on victimizing them?” ayon kay Romualdez sa isang kalatas.
“Attracting tourists should be a priority, and an incident such as this does not help us in encouraging visitors to our country,” dagdag pa niya.
Pahayag pa ni Romualdez, irerekomenda niya kay Bautista na palitan na ang lahat ng tauhan ng OTS ng mga tapat at propesyunal na empleyado.
“It sounds a bit extreme, but circumstances call for extreme measures. If government personnel commit criminal acts against foreign visitors the minute they land at the airport, it says a lot about our country, so it needs to be addressed sternly,” dagdag pa ng opisyal.
Matatandaan na nag-trending hindi lang sa Pilipinas kundi sa ibang bansa ang nakita sa bidyong pagnanakaw ng isang tauhan ng NAIA sa isang Thai national habang sumasailalim sa x-ray screening.
