DISMAYADO si Senador Grace Poe sa kulang-kulang na hakbang ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) para hadlangan ang patuloy na paglipana ng mga text scams na bumibiktima ng milyon-milyong mobile users sa bansa.
“What are you doing, don’t you have complaint hotlines? Have you caught anyone?” pag-uusisa ni Poe sa NTC sa isinagawang pagdinig ng Senate committee on public services kasama ang committee on trade, commerce and entrepreneurship nitong Huwebes, September 8.
Sinagot naman siya ni NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba at sinabi na ang kanilang hotline ay nakalagay sa website ng ahensiya.
“You don’t memorize your hotline? If you don’t know your hotline number, do you think we can? I’m very disappointed. If you were really serious about this issue, this would be at the top of your head and you would really tell the public that this is the number that you can call and text,” giit ni Poe.
Lalo pang nadismaya ang senador nang sabihin ni Cordoba na tanging 800 spam messages lang ang kanilang na block simula noong Enero.
“How many cellphones are there, around 100 million and you blocked only 800 (messages). This is so tragic… Issue order (of blocking) more frequently. Work harder to warn subscribers,” payo ni Poe sa NTC.
