INATASAN ni Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos ang 10 matataas na opisyal ng Philippine National Police (PNP) na magbakasyon muna o maharap sa suspensyon matapos na maiugnay sa umano’y coverup kaugnay ng kontrobersiyal na P6.7 bilyong shabu na nakuha mula sa sinibak na Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo noong 2022.
Sa isang press conference, kabilang sa pinagli-leave ni Abalos ay sina PLtGen. Benjamin Santos Jr. (na noo’y Deputy Chief PNP for Operations); PBGen. Narciso Domingo (Director, PDEG): PCol. Julian Olonan (Chief, PDEG SOU 4A); PCpt Jonathan Sosongco (Head Arrest Team PDEG SOU 4A); PLtCol Arnulfo Ibañez (OIC, PDEG SOU NCR); PMaj. Michael Angelo Salmingo (Dep. PDEG SOU NCR); PLtCol Glenn Gonzales (QC Police District); PLt. Ashrap Amerol (intelligence Officer, PDEG Intelligence and Foreign Liaison); PLtCol Harry Lorenzo III (Manila PD Moriones Station Commander); PCpt. Randolph Piñon (Chief, Intelligence Section PDEG SOU 4A).
Inihayag ni Abalos ang pagbuo ng fact-finding team na pamumunuan ni National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Vice Chairman Alberto Bernardo para imbestigahan ang lawak ng conspiracy na may kaugnayan sa 990 kilo ng shabu na nakumpiska matapos ang operasyon noong Oktubre 8, 2022.
“The testimonies of several personalities and pieces of evidence, including tapes, are now in the possession of the board. It shows there is indeed a massive attempt to cover up the arrest of Sgt. Mayo,” pahayag ni Abalos.
Meron din umanong video na nakuha at hawak ngayon ng fact-finding committee na nagbibigay-diin sa nasabing cover up.
Abalos said that the 10 PNP officers were caught in the video now in possession of the fact-finding committee.
