Rainy first day of 2025 over most parts of PH

THREE weather systems will bring rains over a large portion of the country on the first day of 2025, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Wednesday.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the weather bureau said Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, and the provinces of Palawan, Romblon, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Apayao, Aurora, Bulacan, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

Cloudy skies with rains will prevail over Batanes due to the northeast monsoon or amihan.

Ilocos Region, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, and Nueva Vizcaya will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to amihan.

The rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that possible flash floods or landslides might occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The northern and western sections of Northern Luzon will have moderate to rough seas due to light to moderate winds heading northeast.(PNA)
