3 weather systems to continue to affect parts of PH Sunday

THE shear line, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), and the northeast monsoon will continue to bring rains over parts of the country, the weather bureau bared on Sunday.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Eastern Visayas, and Quezon province will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains will prevail particularly in the Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Northern Samar.

It added that localized flooding is possible mainly in areas that are urbanized, low-lying, or near rivers and landslides are possible in highly susceptible areas.

Caraga, Davao Region, Saranggani, and South Cotabato province will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the easterlies.

Cloudy skies with rains will prevail over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora province due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan”.

PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides are also possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The northeast monsoon will also affect Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the easterlies.

Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon will have rough to very rough coastal waters due to strong to gale northeast winds.

The rest of Luzon and Visayas will experience moderate to strong winds heading east to northeast and moderate to rough seas.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate coastal waters and winds coming from the east to northeast. (PNA)
