IKINATUWA ng Palasyo ang panalo ni Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo matapos maagaw ang WBC featherweight crown kay Gary Russel Jr., sa laban nito ngayong Linggo sa Borgata Hotel Casino sa Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.
“We are one with the Filipino people in celebrating the victory of Mark ‘Magnifico’ Magsayo when he dethroned Gary Russell Jr. to become the new WBC featherweight champion,” sabi ni Acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles.
“We thank Mark for giving pride and honor to the country and demonstrating to the world the courage, determination and perseverance of the Filipino boxer,”sabi ni Nograles.
Tinalo ni Magsayo ang defending champion na si Russel sa iskor na 115-113, 115-113 at 114-114, pabor sa Pinoy boxer.
