Former PBA player apologizes for touching Stonehenge

FORMER Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player Rico Maierhofer issued an apology after he drew criticism online for touching one of the ancient stones at Stonehenge in England, an act prohibited by site authorities.

In a Facebook post, Maierhofer said he crossed a safety barrier and touched one of the stones out of curiosity, despite signs explicitly forbidding visitors from doing so.

“We also post mistakes on our YouTube and Facebook pages to serve as lessons for everyone,” he wrote. “Yes, what I did was wrong and I apologize for my action. It is prohibited to touch Stonehenge.”

Maierhofer said he hoped the incident would be a reminder to others to respect rules at historical sites.

“Sometimes we make mistakes,” he added. “What’s important is that we humble ourselves, accept our faults, genuinely ask for forgiveness, and commit not to repeat them.”

Stonehenge, located in Wiltshire, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Britain’s most iconic and protected monuments.
