UMD’s Norman Santos passes away

NORMAN Santos, a member of the iconic 1990s dance group Universal Motion Dancers (UMD), has passed away after a prolonged battle with kidney failure. He was 52.

Actor and fellow UMD member Wowie de Guzman mourned Santos’ passing in an emotional Facebook post, sharing throwback photos from their days with the group.

“Utol… mahal na mahal ka namin. Hindi man naging maayos ang pagsasama ng grupo sa huli, at the end of the day magkakapatid tayo,” Wowie wrote. “Wala akong ibang hangad kundi kabutihan nating lahat… pasensya ka na sa mga pagkukulang ko sa’yo, Man. Mahal na mahal ka namin.”

“Hindi ko mararating ang kinalalagyan ko ngayon kung hindi dahil sa’yo… we love you, Norman Santos. UMD for life. Kitakits tayo nila Gerald sa finals ng buhay ko,” he added, referring to fellow UMD member Gerard Faisan who passed away in 1997.

Norman’s wife, Chato Maria, confirmed his passing through a heartfelt Facebook post:

“It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Norman Santos on February 3, 2025, after a prolonged fight against kidney failure, necessitating dialysis for over 12 years.”

Tentative viewing is scheduled from February 12 to 16 at St. Peter Memorial Chapel in Tabacuhan, Olongapo City.
