TAIWANESE actress Barbie Hsu, best known for her role as Shancia in the hit drama series Meteor Garden, has passed away at the age of 48.
According to reports, Hsu succumbed to pneumonia caused by influenza, which she reportedly contracted during the Lunar Year holiday.
“Our whole family came to Japan for a trip, and my dearest and most kindhearted sister, Barbie Hsu, died of influenza-induced pneumonia and unfortunately left us,” the family said in a statement.
Hsu rose to fame in the Philippines for her portrayal of Shancai in the 2001 Taiwanese series Meteor Garden, which also starred Jerry Yan as Daoming Si.
