KIM Chiu became emotional during a mall show in Cebu City, where she was promoting her movie with Paulo Avelino.
Despite facing threats of being “canceled,” the actress was overwhelmed by the support of the hundreds of fans who came to see her.
The emotional moment comes after Kim found herself at the center of controversy due to comments she made on the variety show “It’s Showtime.”
Her remarks were misinterpreted by some supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who believed that she was referring to him in her script.
The misunderstanding sparked online attacks and hate comments from some netizens, leading to threats and calls for her to be boycotted.
“Naku, sorry talaga naiyak ako,” Kim said, reflecting on her 19 years in the industry. “Dito ako nag-umpisa. Dito ako nag-audition sa PBB. Nakatambay ako doon sa likod at doon bumalik lahat ng memories.”
Kim also shared her fears about the mall show, expressing concerns that her fans might not show up due to the controversy.
“Sabi nila huwag na tayo magpunta dito. Pero sige punta pa rin. Maraming salamat. Pasensiya na talaga dahil nag-nostalgia ako. Pero kakanta pa ako ng isa. Okay lang sa inyo?” the actress-host said.
