OPM icon Hajji Alejandro is battling stage 4 colon cancer and is currently recovering at home following surgery, his longtime girlfriend Alynna Velasquez confirmed.
In an interview with Julius Babao, shown on the broadcaster’s YouTube vlog on Thursday, March 20, Velasquez revealed that the singer, 70, fell ill while in Vigan for a show.
He experienced bloating, difficulty breathing, and loss of appetite, prompting an emergency CT scan, which confirmed the cancer diagnosis.
The initial findings immediately showed stage 4 colon cancer, Velasquez shared, adding that doctors advised immediate surgery.
Hajji underwent the operation successfully but was sent to an intensive care unit (ICU) after suffering from seizures.
After a week, he was transferred to a regular room, underwent therapy, and gradually regained his ability to speak.
He is now back home, continuing his recovery.
