LIPA City Councilor Mikee Morada revealed in an interview that his wife, actress-TV host Alex Gonzaga, suffered a miscarriage last December—her third since their marriage in 2020.
Speaking with sister-in-law Toni Gonzaga on the “Toni Talks” YouTube channel, Mikee shared the heartbreaking journey.
“Noong nalaman namin na pregnant kami for the third time, nagpa-check up kami kaagad sa OB and okay naman. Nag-decide kami na mag-iingat talaga siya,” Mikee recounted, adding that the initial ultrasounds showed positive signs.
The pregnancy, however, ended in heartbreak. “Doon sa pangatlong linggo, sabi sa amin ng doctor, ‘Naku, wala na namang laman.’ Blighted ovum ulit,” he said, explaining that this type of pregnancy results in an embryo that fails to develop.
The couple sought a second opinion and briefly found hope when they heard a faint heartbeat. “Pagdating namin sa ultrasound na ‘yun, merong baby sa loob. Naiyak ako nang narinig ko ‘yung heartbeat. First time kong nakarinig ng heartbeat sa third try,” he said.
But their joy was short-lived. “That same day, pumunta kami sa ospital, trinay namin habulin baka ma-save pa ‘yung baby,” Mikee revealed, only to find out the heartbeat was gone.
Mikee described Alex as strong but admitted she broke down when they returned home. “At the end of the day, kahit anong mangyayari, biyayaan man tayo o hindi, kahit tayong dalawa lang magkasama, okay lang,” he reassured Alex.
