HINAHANDA na ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Philippine National Police (PNP) ang kasong isasampa sa liderato ng New People’s Army (NPA) kaugnay sa pagkamatay ni Keith Absalon at pinsan nito sa Masbate nitong Linggo.
Sa kalatas, sinabi ni AFP spokesperson Maj. Gen. Edgard Arevalo na tinutugis na nila ang mga responsable sa krimen para mapanagot ang mga ito sa batas.
“We will continue to work vigorously with the PNP in the filing of criminal cases against the murderers and the violators of Republic Act 9851 for the CTG’s (communist terrorist group) leadership who directed the wanton killing of hapless non-combatant civilians using land mines,” ani Arevalo.
Sa ilalim ng RA 9851 o Philippine Act on Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide, and Other Crimes Against Humanity, mariing ipinagbabawal ang pag-atake sa mga sibilyan.
“On behalf of the Filipino People, we will bring to the bar of justice the Communist Terrorist Group leadership who ordered the execution and their complicit cohorts,” dagdag ng opisyal.
Nasawi sina Absalon, 21, at pinsan nitong si Nolven nang madaanan nila ang landmine na itinanim ng rebeldeng grupo sa Masbate City. Nasugatan din sa insidente ang 16-anyos na anak ni Nolven.
