NAGPAPARDAM ngayon ang Mount Kanlaon sa Negros, ayon sa Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) matapos itong makapagtala ng pagtaas ng aktibidad.
Sinabi ng Phivolcs na nakapagtala ng 41 volcanic earthquakes sa bunganga ng bulkan simula noong alas-singko ng umaga noong Hunyo 30.
“In addition, ground deformation data from continuous GPS measurements indicate short-term slight inflation of the lower and mid slopes since January 2022, consistent with continuous electronic tilt recording of inflation of southeastern flanks since mid of March 2022,” sabi ni Phivolcs.
Nagbabala ang Phivolcs na maaaring pagmulan ang mga nangyayaring aktibad ng phreatic o steam-driven eruption mula sa bunganga ng bulkan.
Ayon pa sa Phivolcs, nananatili ang Alert Level 1 sa Kanlaon Volcano.
“The local government units and the public are strongly reminded that entry into the 4-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) must be strictly prohibited due to the further possibilities of sudden and hazardous steam-driven or phreatic eruptions,” dagdag ng Phivolcs.
