“The declaration of the state of Calamity in San Miguel, in Iloilo is simply to equip the municipal and provincial governments with all the resources at their disposal to combat the further spread of ASF,” sabi ni Cainglet.
“The volume of the pigs culled is minimal to the overall stock of local hogs. These is no significant impact as to the supply and prices of pork as we approach the holiday season,” sabi ni Cainglet.
“There will be elements that may try to take advantage of this declaration. Processors have long abandoned the local hog industry so there is should be no impact to the prices of ham and other processed meat,” dagdag ni Cainglet.
