IKINANDADO ng mga otoridad ang isang bar sa Baguio City makaraang ireklamo ng racial discrimination ng isang US Navy serviceman na hindi pinapasok sa establisimento dahil sa kulay ng kanyang balat.
Nag-utos si Mayor Benjamin Magalong ng imbestigasyon makaraang magsampa ng reklamo si Michelot Joseph.
Inireklamo rin ni Joseph ang mga tauhan ng
Baguio City Police Office Station 3 sa hindi seryosong pagtrato ng mga ito sa kanyang reklamo.
Gayunman, pinayagan ng Baguio City Permits and Licensing Office na mag-operate ang establisimento bilang restaurant.
“The establishment was ordered to stop operating as a bar and refrain from dispensing liquor and to strictly comply with its existing business permit to operate only as a restaurant,” ani CPLO chief Allan Abayao.
Ipinag-utos naman ng BCPO ang pagre-relieve sa tatlo nitong tauhan dahil sa “irregularity in the performance of duty.” Sasailalim sila sa refresher seminar para sa mga first responders.
“All BCPO personnel to abide by the provisions of Memorandum Circular 2016-002 and Republic Act 6713 to ensure respect for diversity, the city being one of the premiere tourist destinations in the country,” utos ni Col. Francis Bulwayan, acting city police director, sa mga pulis.
