VICE President Sara Duterte appeared unfazed by Senator Imee Marcos’ recent statement regarding her impeachment, offering a curt and dismissive response when asked for her reaction.
“Ah, bakit kaya? ” Duterte said when pressed for comment, brushing off the issue.
She then shifted the focus back to Marcos, saying, “Maybe we should ask her first bakit niya iba-block ang impeachment,” without elaborating further.
Marcos had earlier hinted at opposing the impeachment case against Duterte, adding another layer of political intrigue as the Senate prepares for the trial.
The House of Representatives transmitted to the Senate the Articles of Impeachment signed by 215 congressmen.
A two-thirds vote from the 23 senators is required to convict and remove Duterte from office, but the Vice President seemed uninterested in rallying support.
“I have not talked to my friends in the Senate,” she admitted, signaling a detached stance despite the high-stakes proceedings.
