Senator Bato still has 4 police escorts – PNP

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) admitted that two police security details of Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa had been withdrawn, but clarified that he still has four police escorts despite the usual limit of two.

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo confirmed that two police officers assigned to Dela Rosa were pulled out. He however said that this was done as early as January 13 in compliance with a directive from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Fajardo cited Comelec Resolution 11067, which governs election gun control and the assignment of security personnel to very important persons (VIPs).

“As of now, Senator Dela Rosa still has four police escorts based on a Certificate of Authority from Comelec, which will remain valid until July 11,” she said.

Fajardo also explained that while the certificate states that only two police officers should be assigned to Dela Rosa, the actual number depends on a threat assessment.

On Wednesday, Dela Rosa said that two of his police security details in Davao City had already been withdrawn.
