Sarah Balabagan blasts Arnold Clavio over prayer rally remark

SARAH Balabagan, the former overseas Filipino worker who was sentenced to death for murder in the United Arab Emirates but later repatriated to the Philippines in the mid-1990s, lashed out at broadcast journalist Arnold Clavio for mocking prayer rallies held for former president Rodrigo Duterte.

“Arnold, huwag mong maliitin ang power ng UNITY PRAYERS! ‘The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective’ is James 5:16. Ako mismo ay bunga ng unity prayers ng mga Filipino. Pero pinagsamantalahan mo lang at inuto!” Balabagan wrote on social media.

Her remarks were in response to Clavio’s viral comment questioning the rallies: “PARA SAAN ANG PRAYER RALLY KUNG HINDI NAMAN NANINIWALA SA DIYOS ANG IPINAGDARASAL NIYO?”

In 2020, Balabagan revealed that she and Clavio had an affair in the late 1990s, which resulted in the birth of her first child. She was 17 at the time and Clavio was in his 30s, working as a reporter covering her case.

Balabagan said she decided to speak out about the relationship after years of silence, citing a desire to clarify the past. Clavio declined to comment on her revelation at the time.
