Romualdez credits high trust rating to colleagues’ work commitment

SPEAKER Martin Romualdez said Tuesday his consistent high trust rating would serve as a motivation for him and all House members to continue working towards legislation and programs that genuinely prioritize the people’s welfare.

He attributed the high rating in the most recent OCTA Research surveys to the collective efforts of his colleagues in advancing legislation that directly benefits the Filipino people, emphasizing that these ratings reflect the House‘s commitment to its legislative responsibilities.

The second-quarter survey of OCTA Research, held from June 30 to July 5, indicates that Romualdez’s trust rating increased from 61 percent in March to 62 percent in the latest survey, buoyed by a significant 9 percent increase in his ratings in Mindanao from 42 percent to 51 percent during the period.

“We attribute these positive trust ratings to the collaborative efforts of the House in passing pro-people legislation and conducting thorough oversight functions to address critical national issues,” he said.

He expressed his “sincerest gratitude” to the Filipino people for their continued trust, reaffirming his commitment to his mandate as Speaker and as a member of the Lower Chamber of Congress.

“It affirms that we are on the right track and, more importantly, that our efforts to pass laws and initiatives that improve the lives of our fellow Filipinos are resonating with the public,” he said.

He said his high trust ratings challenge him and other House members to further push and craft more impactful legislation that benefits the people and addresses societal issues, such as Philippine offshore gaming operators, illegal drugs, and extrajudicial killings.

“Whether in addressing economic challenges, enhancing public services, or securing the welfare of every Filipino, we will continue to work diligently to bring positive change to every corner of our nation,” he said.

“Para sa aking mga kasama dito sa Kongreso, ito ay tagumpay nating lahat (For my colleagues here in Congress, this is the success of every one of us). This reflects the hard work and dedication each of you puts into your role. Together, we will continue to foster an environment of collaboration and inclusivity, working not for personal gain but for the betterment of our country and the Filipino people.” (PNA)
