Duterte: What is the crime I committe?

FORMER President Rodrigo Duterte protested what he called “illegal detention” after being served an arrest warrant after arriving from Hong Kong.

A series of videos posted by his daughter, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, on Instagram showed the former leader questioning Prosecutor General Anthony Fadullon about his detention on Tuesday.

“What is the law and what is the crime that I committed?” Duterte asked in one of the clips.

“Show me the legal basis for my being here. I was brought here not of my own volition.”

Former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, present during the exchange, pointed out that Duterte was arrested despite the Philippines no longer being a member of the ICC.

Duterte was taken into custody immediately upon his return from Hong Kong. He faces charges of crimes against humanity over his administration’s drug war, which reportedly resulted in 6,000 to 20,000 deaths.
