FORMER television host Bobby Yan is under fire from netizens after photos of his campaign posters—featuring his late brother, actor Rico Yan—circulated online.
Bobby, who is running for councilor in Cabuyao, Laguna, was criticized for including Rico’s image in his campaign materials. The matinee idol passed away 23 years ago.
Several netizens called the move distasteful and questioned its relevance to Bobby’s political bid.
“Kinalaman ni Rico Yan? Di ka ba makapagkampanya based on merit, plataporma? Have some shame, maybe,” one comment read.
“Wala ka bang tiwala sa sarili mo? Kailangan talaga ilagay pa sa poster mo ang kapatid mong matagal nang namayapa?” said another.
Others urged the politician to respect Rico’s legacy and let him “rest in peace,” emphasizing that campaign platforms—not nostalgia—should be at the forefront of a candidate’s message.
