KATAKOT-TAKOT na batikos ang inabot ng ABS-CBN dahil sa pagpapalabas nito ng Chinese news program sa ANC sa gitna ng isyu ng pangangamkam ng Tsina sa karagatang sakop ng Pilipinas.
Nag-trending ang #ABSCBNTutaNgChina sa Twitter habang paulit-ulit na ikinokomento sa social media ang “Ang network na gipit, sa China kumakapit at in the service of the Filipino” at “This is hypocrisy at its finest.”
Ayon sa mga galit na netizens, hindi nila makuha ang rason kung bakit pumayag ang ABS-CBN na ipalabas ang Chinatown News TV, isang nightly Mandarin Chinese weekday news program, sa ANC gayong nangunguna ang network sa pagbabalita ukol sa mga ginagawa ng China sa West Philippines Sea.
Ipinaliwanag naman ni ABS-CBN News chief Ging Reyes ang kanilang desisyon sa tweet.
“I understand the concerns on Chinese incursions in the West Ph sea & many other issues related to the country’s relations with China. ABS-CBN News has vigorously covered these issues, in our pursuit of truth and public enlightenment,” aniya.
Pero dagdag niya: “The airing on ANC of Chinatown News should not be equated with the intrusions in the West Ph Sea. Chinatown News is produced by fellow Filipinos who belong to the Filipino-Chinese community. They are part of Philippine society. Rather than belittle their attempt to provide a service to their local community, it’s time we considered embracing the diversity of this land we all call home.”
