NANAWAGAN ng pakikiisa at pakikiramay si Pope Francis para sa mga biktima ng Tropical Depression Agaton na nakapinsala sa ilang bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao nitong mga nakaraang araw.
Ang pakikiisa ng Santo Papa ay ipinarating ni Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Kalihim ng Estado ng Vatican, sa isang liham na may petsang Abril 14 kay Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Charles Brown.
“Having been informed of the recent loss of life and destruction caused by typhoon Megi, His Holiness Pope Francis wishes to express his solidarity with all those suffering in the wake of the storm,” ayon sa liham ni Parolin.
“He also offered the assurance of prayers for the dead, injured, and displaced as well as those engaged in recovery efforts. As a sign of his spiritual closeness, His Holiness willingly invokes upon all the Filipino people God’s blessings of strength and peace,” dagdag pa nito.
Ayon sa ulat ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, umabot sa 137 noong Biyernes ang bilang nga mga nasawi dahil sa pagguho ng lupa at baha. Ang Agaton ang unang bagyong tumama sa Pilipinas ngayong taon.
