PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Saturday urged voters in Davao del Norte to support all 12 senatorial candidates of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas coalition, emphasizing their strong track records and commitment to public service.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Carmen, Marcos described the coalition’s candidates as highly experienced and well-prepared for Senate positions.
“Individually, they are impressive, but together, their strength and resilience are remarkable,” he said.
The administration’s Senate slate includes Representatives Erwin Tulfo and Camille Villar; reelectionist Senators Francis Tolentino, Lito Lapid, Bong Revilla, Pia Cayetano, and Imee Marcos; Makati City Mayor Abby Binay; former senators Manny Pacquiao, Panfilo Lacson, and Vicente Sotto III; and former Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr.
Marcos vouched for their qualifications, stating that they are well-versed in governance and do not need guidance upon assuming office.
“They know their jobs, who to engage with, and the best ways to serve the people,” he added.
He also highlighted that the candidates are not linked to corruption and are running with the intent to serve Filipinos, not personal interests.
He stressed their stance against extrajudicial killings and China’s harassment in the West Philippine Sea.
Marcos took a swipe at his predecessor, former President Rodrigo Duterte, for joking about eliminating 15 senators to create vacancies.
“It’s concerning when someone sees killing as the only solution,” he remarked.
Senators Marcos, Cayetano, Lacson and Villar were absent from the rally in Davao del Norte, a known stronghold of the Dutertes.
