MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan is among 19 local candidates who have been issued show-cause orders by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) over alleged vote-buying and abuse of state resources (ASR).
The Comelec’s Committee on Kontra Bigay (CKB), led by Teopisto Elnas Jr., released a document naming the candidates accused of election violations.
Lacuna, who is seeking re-election, has yet to issue a statement regarding the allegations.
Also included in the list are Marikina Rep. Stella Quimbo, running for mayor, and her husband, former Rep. Romero Quimbo, who is vying for Marikina’s 2nd District seat.
Both were cited for alleged vote-buying and ASR.
Other candidates served with show-cause orders include:
- Denver Christopher Chua (Cavite City mayoral bet)
- Marvin Venus (Baras, Rizal)
- Ruben Talon, Butch Suspeñe, and Zake Derequito (Dumangas, Iloilo)
- Zarah Rose Lara (Cagayan gubernatorial candidate)
- Allan Martines de Leon and Kristofer Charles Esguerra (Taytay, Rizal)
- Erwin Pastrana (Mauban, Quezon)
- Rhapsody Miguel Riveral (Cuartero, Capiz)
- Winfred Rivera (Kamalayan Party-list)
- Jeren Jude Bacas and Rolen Paulino Jr. (Olongapo City)
- Danilo Fernandez (Laguna)
- Romulo Avila (vice mayoral candidate, Quezon Province)
Earlier, the commission issued show-cause orders to Manila mayoral candidates Isko Moreno and Samuel Versoza over the same allegations of vote-buying.
