MATAPOS mag-anunsyo ng kanyang retirement si Pangulong Duterte, naghain naman ng certificate of candidacy ang kanyang anak na si Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, pero hindi para sa anumang mataas na posisyon kundi para sa pagiging alkalde muli.
“I have been honored with the gift of trust and respect of many of our fellow Filipinos. Thank you to everyone who have expressed their support. Many of you do not know me and yet you carry me over your shoulders,” ayon kay Sara sa kanyang post sa social media.
“Like the other millions of Filipinos, I share with you the same goal of living a peaceful and prosperous life in our country, today and in the many years to come. I call on everyone to work together for honest, orderly, and credible elections in May 2022,” dagdag pa nito.
Bago ito, naghain ng kanyang COC bilang vice president si Senador Bong Go, bilang kapalit ni Duterte na nagdesisyon na hindi na tatakbo sa darating na halalan at tuluyan nang magreretiro sa pulitika.
